Vocab Express announces new partnership with Nelson Thornes

Secondary vocabulary resources available to support language education

Vocab Express, the online modern foreign language vocabulary learning application is launching new language resources for Key Stages 3 to 5 in partnership with educational publisher Nelson Thornes. This forms part of the continuing development of Vocab Express to make language learning more accessible and enjoyable for young people.

Modern foreign languages remain an area of contention within education, with ongoing debate at all levels how best to educate and motivate young people in learning another language. To support this, Vocab Express has at its heart a desire to make another language easier to master and exciting to learn through an innovative, competitive method of learning, revision and testing.

Following the Vocab Express format, vocabulary from some of Nelson Thornes’ Key Stage 3 to 5 French, German and Spanish series is now available online. Vocab Express is designed to support and further learning done with text books in lessons, building on the resources provided by Nelson Thornes to extend learning in an enjoyable and inclusive format at the student’s own pace.

The new agreement will see the integration of Vocab Express with Kerboodle, the personalised online learning service for teachers and students that provides learning and assessment resources. Kerboodle users will be able to automatically connect to Vocab Express using their Kerboodle accounts, and can subscribe to the application as upgrades to their Kerboodle subscriptions.

Resources available include the vocabulary lists for Nelson Thornes AQA French, German and Spanish books for GCSE, AS and A2, Kerboodle Succès (French) for Year 9 and Tricolore Total 1 to 4 at KS3 and GCSE, which will be available for direct subscription on Vocab Express and via Kerboodle.

Justin Sycamore, managing director at Vocab Express comments: “We are thrilled to be working with Nelson Thornes to be able to support and invigorate the foreign language learning process. The integration of Kerboodle and Vocab Express brings together complementary products, forging a partnership that adds a fresh, innovative approach to both helping teach and learning vocabulary. By integrating text, images and native-speaker audio, Vocab Express reinforces and advances classroom learning, allowing each child to fulfil their potential at their individual pace.”

Claire Varlet-Baker, publishing director at Nelson Thornes states: “Since first meeting with Vocab Express at BETT last year, we have been keen to work with them to enhance our Kerboodle language packages. As a result we are now able to offer our customers extended and dedicated vocabulary practice opportunities within the familiar Kerboodle environment.”
