Vocab Resources
Vocab Express works with a wide range of exam boards and publishers of text books and schemes of work to ensure that the vocab lists available on Vocab Express are relevant to the material that you are teaching or learning.
We are always in the process of adding more Vocab Resources. Currently vocab resources are available from the following organisations:
AQA
The Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) is the largest of the three English exam boards, awarding 49% of full course GCSEs and 42% of A-levels nationally. In total, students take over 3.5 million exams with us each year.Vocab Express includes the Minimum Core Vocabulary lists from the AQA GCSE Specifications (first examination 2011) in French, German, Spanish and Mandarin. This includes both foundation and higher tier vocabulary.AQA has checked that the content and level of this publication is appropriate for its GCSE specifications.
CIE
University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is the world’s largest provider of international qualifications for 14–19 year olds. CIE is part of the University of Cambridge and a not-for-profit organisation.Vocab Express includes the Defined Content Minimum Core Vocabulary lists from the CIE iGCSE Specifications in French, Spanish and German.
Edexcel
Edexcel, a Pearson company, is the UK's largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to schools, colleges, employers and other places of learning in the UK and internationally.Vocab Express includes the Minimum Core Vocabulary lists from the Edexcel GCSE in French, German, Spanish and Italian (2009 specifications). The Vocabulary Books, which extend the Minimum Core lists to include higher tier vocabulary will also be added in the future, as well as vocab lists for the iGCSE.
OCR
OCR (Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations) is a leading UK awarding body, committed to providing qualifications that engage learners of all ages at school, college, in work or through part-time learning programmes to achieve their full potential.Vocab Express includes the Vocabulary Lists for the OCR GCSE (current) French, German, Spanish and Latin (A401 and A402) specifications, as well as the OCR AS GCE Latin specification.OCR has reviewed and endorsed the OCR MFL GCSE vocab lists on Vocab Express.
WJEC - CBAC
WJEC, previously the Welsh Joint Education Committee, was established in 1948 as a consortium of local education authorities in Wales. WJEC provides examinations, assessment, professional development, educational resources, support for adults who wish to learn Welsh and access to youth arts activities. It also provides examinations throughout England as well as Wales.Vocab Express includes the minimum core vocabulary for foundation tier as detailed in the WJEC in French and WJEC in German (for Award from 2011) specifications. Spanish will be added in the near future.WJEC has reviewed and endorsed the WJEC vocab lists on Vocab Express.
Collins
Collins has been at the forefront of dictionary publishing for over 175 years and is one of the worlds most respected and market leading dictionary and language learning publishers. Building on this heritage and expertise Collins delivers, accurate, accessible yet innovative products to meet the needs of a wide spectrum of users from students to professionals and with content accessible to the user in print, online or via mobile; it is for these reasons Collins dictionary products have become a mainstay for generations of users.Collins supplies Vocab Express with native-speaker audio for many of the dictionary entries in French, German and Spanish.
Heinemann
Heinemann is part of Pearson, the UK’s largest and fastest-growing educational publisher.Heinemann is dedicated to publishing a wide range of high-quality modern languages resources that reflect the latest curriculum developments and the most up-to-date learning techniques. From the new KS3 course, Studio, to an extensive range of GCSE and A Level resources, more teachers and learners use Heinemann resources than any other.Vocab Express currently includes a range of Heinemann Key Stage 3 titles, including Expo, Mira, Listos and Echo — please click here for a full list.
Hodder Education
The Hodder Education Group is part of Hachette Livre UK the largest and one of the most diversified book publishers in the UK. Hodder Education is the second largest publisher for secondary education in the UK.Vocab Express currently includes the latest editions of Mot à Mot, Palabra por Palabra and Wort für Wort. We will be working on AS and A2 Level Mandarin shortly.
La Jolie Ronde
La Jolie Ronde is a leading provider of language learning through extra-curricular language classes and the supply of language teaching resources. La Jolie Ronde provides a proven method with a solid underlying structure that enables children, aged between 3 and 11 years old, to progress year after year in French and Spanish.Vocab Express includes the Core Vocabulary Lists from each Lesson of the La Jolie Ronde French and Spanish Schemes of Work for years 3 to 6 inclusive.
Nelson Thornes
Nelson Thornes is one of the UK’s leading educational publishers providing engaging and creative blended learning resources of the highest quality that support teachers and motivate students of all abilities from Primary through to Higher Education. Nelson Thornes is a part of Infinitas Learning, one of the largest multimedia educational publishers in Europe.The vocabulary from the Nelson Thornes GCSE, AS and A2 course books for AQA French, German and Spanish, as well as Kerboodle Succès is currently being added to Vocab Express and will be available as an upgrade package to subscribers to the Kerboodle platform. Oxford University Press is the world's largest university press with the widest global presence. It publishes globally for a range of audiences, across a multitude of cultures, education systems, and languages. Its range includes dictionaries, English language teaching materials, children's books, journals, scholarly monographs, printed music, higher education textbooks, and schoolbooks.The vocabulary from a range of MFL resources is currently in the process of being added to Vocab Express: for Key Stage 3, Zoom español, Zoom Deutsch and Clic!; for AQA and OCR GCSE French, German and Spanish; and AQA and OCR AS/A2 Élan, Zeitgeist and Ánimo.
